Fernando J. Rivero Public Sector Service Fund
Public Sector Attorneys
The Hispanic National Bar Association (“HNBA”) and the HNBA VIA (“Vision in Action”) Fund have established the Fernando J. Rivero Public Sector Service Fund (the “Fund”) in recognition of Fernando J. Rivero, who we lost on August 9, 2021. Fernando was most recently the Chief Compliance Officer of the HNBA and was the President Hispanic Bar Association of DC in 2014. The Fund was established to honor Fernando’s leadership, dedication, and service to the HNBA and the Hispanic community at large. He was an outstanding public servant and respected member of our HNBA Familia. He left behind a life of service and had a long, broad, and deep legacy of selflessness, dedication, and making a difference in people’s lives.
Fernando spent much of his career in public service, most recently as Assistant Chief in the Civil Enforcement Section of the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. Through the Fund, HNBA/VIA will keep his light burning bright and provide financial support to one or more public sector attorneys who serve on the HNBA/VIA Boards or in another significant leadership capacity. We hope to encourage public sector attorneys to serve the HNBA as Fernando did by defraying a portion of the costs associated with attending conferences, board meetings, and other significant events. The Fund strives to cover a portion of the registration, travel, and/or lodging expenses that the applicant incurs as part of his or her board or leadership service.
