The HNBA/VIA sponsors this scholarship to assist law students who have overcome significant challenges and whose experiences reflect resilience, leadership, and a commitment to public service.

The program is designed to support economically disadvantaged or historically underrepresented students and is open to eligible applicants regardless of immigration status. Awards may be used to cover tuition, books, academic fees, or living expenses.

At the time of application, eligible applicants must:

• Be enrolled and attend an American Bar Association-accredited law school in the United States or territories;
• Be an incoming 1L or a current 1L, 2L, 3L, or LLM student in good academic standing;
• Demonstrate impact or a strong commitment to the HNBA community; and
• Must sign up for HNBA law student membership (complimentary) prior to disbursement of funds

   1. On no more than two (2) pages (typed, double-spaced, size 12 pt, font Times New Roman), please address the following points:
      1. What motivated you to go to law school;
      2. Academic plans and career goals;
      3. How you intend to give back to the HNBA community; and
      4. Any special family or personal circumstances which have affected your achievement in school, work, or your participation in school or community activities (if applicable).
